BNC rear socket shows short circuit
On checking my Antenna system I found it to be open circuit but further investigation
showed it to be the rear bnc socket on the flex3000 is this correct.
Is it possible for one of you flex3000 owners to put a meter on your BNC socket
and check this out for me Please
I have emailed Tech support EU and US but still have had no response

Flex Radio 3000 and CAT PTT interface for MMTTY
Interface settings are not working for me in Windows 7 sound or MMTTY v1.68a. I have reviewed several How To video presentions on Digital Modes using YouTube, FlexRadio knowledge base and all the Google searches I can think of. When ever I open MMTTY I'm told that com ports are not working and there is no sound card. My version of MMTTY sound card options are only "computer sound card" or "MixW". One website reference for MMTTY setup: http://flexradiowiki.com/frsradoiowiki/index.php?title=MMTTY
My question is, are there more than 2 issues here, one might be the MMTTY Device ID for the sound card and second is selection of the correct Windows 7 sound Playback and Record setting. I'm sorry but, I'm going to need some outside help on this.
VAC v4.10, com0com v2.2 and PSDR v2.2 audio and VAC are set properly AFAIK. MMTTY is version 1.68a. PC = 1Tb HD, 8Gig memory, Windows 7 SP1 OS, Monitor = 23" LED display. Firewire card = Rosewill 1394a Model RC 504.
Would very much like to hear from Flexers who have a working MMTTY and F3K interface and can provide some much needed tips either on forum or off-line.

Flex-3000A PSDR v2.2.3 Wave
I am very happy with the performance. :)
One thing has be bugging me for a while. When I use the wave to record a QSO part I would like to retransmit it back to the QSO partner. When I try this the PTT trips but no modulation comes out.
Would someone be so kind as to explain step by step how I record the qso and then play back what I have recorded to the QSO parnter. I believe this is possible but I am not sure.
Many thanks your your time in advance.

Serial number decoding?
1 - how old is it?
2 - have there been updates to the hardware since it was made?

Using a Flex3000 remotely?
I would like to know if I can connected remotely to a Flex3000 at my home. For example could I connect to my home computer and system and run the radio remotely from my work system?
There will probably be firewall issues since at home I have: 1) a router on my side of the cable modem; 2) the firewall on my computer; and last 3) the virus protection software on my computer. I should be able to configure all of this.
If it works like EchoLink does, I haven't been able to use that system without going through a Proxy server for some reason? I have checked all phases (the 3 above) and it still won't work. This leads me to worry that it might not work for the flex either, unless it uses a different mechanism than port Forwarding which doesn't seem to be reliable.
Any pointers, thoughts, links to documents or threads are appreciated. Dale, N7OXF

Keyboard shortcut - temp and voltage
a small window that showed voltage and temp for the Flex. I read it, tried it, thought it was neat. And of course
thought I'd never forget it!
And if there is one, there must be more tidbits?
Use of a 2m/10m-transverter with a max. rf-input of 5 Watts!
Now my question: What can I do to be absolutely sure that I never give more than 5 Watts rf-power on the IF-Input of the transverter? Otherwise I would have killed it immediately.
Do anyone have a suggestion or any experience?
Thanks a lot!

Will Yaesu MD100A8X work or better mic?
Google sent me to a Mods URL and I saw something there but the terms for the various pins didn't mesh with the flex.
I'm look for a plug-n-play, not interested in trying to wire up an RJ-45.
Even if I can't use the MD100Z8X filter (thought the 5V+ from Flex looks like the power is there if the pins are right) I want to be sure it won't shot anything when plugged in. Remember when Mics were just Mics :) The mic's impedance is 500 ohms.
I could probably send it back to universal radio for a more compatible model - if I know what that would be.
Any advice/suggestions appreciated.

Echolink, Echo TC & HRD
http://www.qsl.net/zl2sea/EchoTC/EchoTC.html. Basically, this program allows you to port Echolink to HF.
I've tried ever combination of VSP, using either vCOM or com0com, for both CAT and PTT control.
I can get PSDR and HRD to work together fine and I can get Echolink and Echo TC to work together fine.
However, audio coming in via Echolink will not key the F3K nor will audio coming in via the F3k key Echolink.
I just can't get the two pieces, PSDR/HRD and Echolink/Echo TC, to talk to each other. I've traded emails back-n-forth
with Nigel, the developer of Echo TC, but I'm still at a dead end.

Transmit spikes
do not get along with the transmitter.
Support ran me through all kinds of testing and interactive connections, then
sent me a replacement radio. The replacement radio has the same symptoms:
When using ANY microphone plugged into front of the 3000, there is a variable
XMIT spike that shows on my peak reading meters (two different meters at
different locations along the RF path. The start decay point runs from a few
Watts to over 60 Watts. With ANY microphone plugged in the front of the 3000 and
using a foot PTT (plugged into the rear of the 3000) there is a much smaller
spike - typically showing under one Watt or less on the meters. When keyed from
the MOX button with a mouse click, the effect is the same as the rear PTT
connection. I even purchased a new Yaesu MH-31 to test with.
If I did not have the peak reading meters I might never have noticed this
problem - then wondered why my amp smoked. Yes, the spikes cause spikes from my
tube amplifier - which can be seen when watching the meters on the amp.
The spikes occur on all bands and the antennas are well away from the house (I
live in the country). I have never had a similar problem with any other
transmitter in my 50+ years of hamming. The spikes can be seen on a remote
receiving scope, are reported to be instantaneously as strong as my SSB signal,
and are heard as a thumping sound.
To date I have spent over 40 hours configuring/reconfiguring my station,
exchanged over sixty emails with support, spent time on the telephone with
support, bought $175 of unneeded extra microphones and adapter cables, and spent
nearly $50 to return the first 3000.
The entire station is grounded per directions/recommendations of Flex. I have
tried beads on everything - plenty of them (more time and money). Various
configurations of the station have been tried - amplifier, wiring, location, and
antenna wise. At no point has the problem abated!
I have put the purchase of a solid state amplifier on hold, as I am sure this
spike will not be healthy for it.
My questions:
1. Anyone out there have a sure-fire fix for this?
2. Anyone know of other instances of spikes - (I have been lead to believe that
I am the only ham having this problem)?

Flex 3000- Power SDR 2.2.3 Freezes
I have loaded PWR SDR 2.2.3 and the flex-firewire driver 3.5.0.7171.exe.
I have tried most of the fixes posted in this forum but to no avail. After a few minutes PWR SDR freezes, no audio, no RF and water fall just streaks scrolling. By restarting the PWR SDR it resets, good for another few minutes.
It is frustrating. This Flex 3000 worked fine on my desktop. I was planning to take it along on my trips throughout North America and Europe.
